This bill removes the requirement for a clerk of court to send copies of guardianship orders to the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS), which is a state agency that administers Medicaid and other health and human services programs. Specifically, it eliminates the need to forward copies of orders appointing a guardian, terminating a guardianship, or modifying an existing guardianship to DMAS. This change applies to both the initial appointment of a guardian and any subsequent changes to that guardianship.
