This bill modifies existing law to establish that if a law-enforcement employee leaves their current agency within West Virginia to work for another law-enforcement agency in the state after completing training at a law-enforcement training academy, the new agency is responsible for reimbursing the original agency for the wages, salaries, benefits, tuition, and expenses paid for that training. This reimbursement is to be paid to the governing board, which is defined as the entity that oversees the training, and will be paid out gradually over a two-year period. This provision aims to address the costs incurred by the original employer when an employee leaves for another law-enforcement position within the state after receiving specialized training.
