Furthermore, misinformation disseminated through official websites and social media platforms will result in a $5,000 fine per instance, with an additional $100 daily penalty until corrected, with these funds split between the West Virginia Home Educators Association and Christian Home Educators of West Virginia. The bill also mandates that if a parent or student loses their HOPE Scholarship due to a county or state board of education failing to file necessary paperwork on time, the board will be fined an amount equal to the lost scholarship, paid directly to the affected families. All collected fines are intended to ensure legal compliance, transparency, and the protection of parental and guardian rights in education.
