This bill amends the Michigan employment security act to prohibit certain high-ranking officials from the Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA), referred to as "covered officials," from accepting employment, compensation, gifts, or anything of value from any vendor that had a contract with the UIA during their tenure, or from representing such a vendor before the UIA, for at least two years after leaving their position. Covered officials include the director, deputy directors, senior procurement officials, contract managers, IT project managers assigned to vendor contracts, and any employee with authority over vendor contracts. If a vendor violates this provision by employing or compensating a covered official, that vendor will be ineligible to enter into, renew, extend, or modify contracts with the UIA for five years following the violation, though existing contracts will not be invalidated. The definition of "vendor" is broad and includes parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and entities under common ownership or control.
