This joint resolution commends the Blacksburg High School boys' golf team for their victory at the PGA Boys High School Golf National Invitational on July 22, 2025, held at Pinehurst Resort. The team, also known as the Blacksburg Bruins, achieved their first national title by winning the three-day competition with a cumulative score of 851 strokes, which was 13 strokes under par and nine strokes ahead of the runners-up. This accomplishment is attributed to the hard work of the student-athletes, including Jake Albert who set a course record, the guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the support of their families and the school community. The resolution directs the Clerk of the Senate to present a copy of this commendation to the team's coach, Rick Mattox, as a token of the General Assembly's admiration.
