This bill authorizes the Governor's office to establish a school choice office, provided that the Legislature appropriates the necessary funds. This office will be staffed with enough personnel to help students and parents who are using school choice options, which are different ways to attend school beyond traditional public schools. The school choice office will work with the Department of Education to inform families about all available educational paths in West Virginia, including public schools, private and religious schools, online schools, homeschooling, and smaller learning groups like learning pods and micropods. To help disseminate this information, the office can use the state's online portal for homeschooling families.
