These reports will be sent to the Legislature, the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), which is a state agency that manages government operations and finances, and the legislative committee overseeing the District Attorneys Council, a body that supports and coordinates district attorneys' offices. Additionally, the District Attorneys Council will compile an annual report using this data, including the types of referrals and reasons for non-prosecution when known, and submit it to the same entities. To ensure consistency, the District Attorneys Council is authorized to create standardized reporting guidelines, and this new law will take effect on November 1, 2026.
