This bill modifies provisions related to firearm accessories by adding a definition for "rapid fire device," which is defined as any accessory, conversion kit, device, or tool that attaches to a semiautomatic firearm and allows it to discharge two or more shots with a single activation, or a device that increases the firearm's rate of fire. The bill also amends existing law to include these rapid fire devices in the list of prohibited items that a person cannot knowingly possess, manufacture, transport, repair, or sell, making the offense a class D felony, similar to possessing explosive weapons, machine guns, short-barreled rifles or shotguns, firearm silencers, or switchblade knives in violation of federal law. The bill also makes technical corrections to existing definitions and references within the statutes.
