This bill amends Arizona law regarding the licensure of internationally trained physicians by creating a new pathway for those who have completed all formal requirements for a medical degree from a foreign medical school but are not yet eligible for certification by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Specifically, it allows such applicants to be considered for licensure if they complete an approved one-year supervised clinical training program in the United States, followed by an approved twenty-four-month internship, residency, or clinical fellowship. The bill also introduces a new provision, "pathway one," which allows an applicant who attended a foreign medical school, met all graduation requirements, and satisfies the ECFMG's pathway one requirements to be granted licensure if they hold an unrestricted medical license in another jurisdiction, have legal immigration status to work as a physician in the U.S., have a job offer from a healthcare provider in a county with a population under one million, and meet most of the standard licensure requirements, excluding the initial medical school and postgraduate training verification.
