Quarterly updates on the checklist's status will be provided to members of the joint legislative audit committee, the governor, and relevant legislative committee chairpersons overseeing the state land department. If the department fails to implement the recommendations within the two-year timeframe, the auditor general will notify these same officials and request a special meeting of the joint legislative audit committee to discuss potential remedies. This section of the bill is set to expire on December 31, 2028, and the legislature has found this act necessary to protect the interests of the state land trust and its beneficiaries.
