This resolution designates February 1 to 7, 2026, as Burn Awareness Week in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, aiming to raise public awareness about the frequency, devastation, and causes of burn injuries, as well as prevention and care measures, acknowledging that burn injuries are a significant cause of accidental death and injury, particularly affecting vulnerable populations like children, and recognizing the vital work of the University of Louisville Hospital's Burn Center, which is the only dedicated adult burn center in Kentucky and provides comprehensive care to approximately 350 patients annually.
