This bill establishes the "Arizona Artificial Intelligence Education Program" within the Department of Education, which will offer a summer course statewide to all residents, aiming to equip them with knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact. The program's curriculum will include "Digital Hygiene and Civic Integrity," teaching safe navigation of the digital world, understanding algorithmic bias and how technology platforms influence users (including the "Search Engine Manipulation Effect," which describes how search engine results can shape opinions), protecting personal data, identifying misinformation and AI-generated content, and developing critical thinking skills. Additionally, it will feature an "Artificial Intelligence for Small Business and Entrepreneurship" curriculum, providing practical training on using AI tools to start or grow a business, covering marketing, customer outreach, operational efficiency, and ethical considerations. The Office of Economic Opportunity will develop the business curriculum, recruit volunteer instructors from diverse backgrounds, and identify facilities for the course. Public schools, universities, and community colleges may award academic credit for completing the program, and other state agencies and governmental entities can offer their facilities for free. The bill also includes a severability clause, meaning if any part of the act is found invalid, the rest will remain in effect, and it is to be cited as the "Getting Arizona Ready for AI Act."
