It establishes penalties for intentionally defrauding others by illegally obtaining or possessing gift cards or certificates, tampering with them (which is considered forgery), devising schemes to steal redemption information through false pretenses, or using unlawfully obtained gift cards or their information to get money or goods, with increased penalties for grand larceny if the value exceeds $950 within six months. This legislation will take effect on November 1, 2026.
