This bill prohibits municipalities, counties, and state agencies in Oklahoma from engaging in certain employment practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Specifically, it prevents these government entities from giving preferential treatment in hiring or other employment decisions based on an applicant's race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other unchangeable characteristics. The bill also prohibits these entities from hiring someone specifically to meet diversity, equity, or inclusion goals, and from creating any offices or positions dedicated to promoting DEI. The inclusion of an emergency clause means the bill will take effect immediately upon its passage.
