This bill allows a local church to leave its denominational conference, which is a larger governing body of churches within a specific religious tradition, and keep its property. However, the local church must pay back the conference for any money the conference invested in acquiring, maintaining, or improving the property the local church uses. The conference must provide a clear and complete record of these investments to determine the reimbursement amount. Importantly, the local church will not have to repay the conference for any investments the local church itself made towards the property.
