This bill amends Tennessee law to allow local officials to lower flags to half-staff in honor of prominent citizens. Specifically, a county mayor can order flags on county property to be lowered to half-staff to recognize the death of a significant individual from that county, and the chief executive officer of a municipality, such as a city mayor, can do the same for flags on municipal property to honor a prominent citizen of that municipality. These changes are being made to Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) Titles 5, 6, and 7, which cover county government, municipal government, and other local government matters respectively.
