This bill, relating to online driver education in Vermont, proposes to amend existing law to allow the classroom portion of a driver education and training program to be completed through an asynchronous online course, in addition to the current in-person option, for students who are at least 15 years old and enrolled in an approved high school. The bill specifies that these online courses must adhere to content standards outlined in the Novice Teen Driver Education and Training Administrative Standards and outlines several requirements for approval by the Agency of Education and the Department of Motor Vehicles, including performance outcome measurement, rotating exam questions, identity verification, time tracking, technical support, secure data storage, protection against unauthorized access, and the ability to uniformly update course content across the state. This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2026.
