This bill, effective January 1, 2027, prohibits various types of Arizona health insurance providers, including hospital and medical service corporations, health care services organizations, and disability insurers, from charging patients any out-of-pocket costs, known as "cost sharing," for diagnostic prostate cancer screenings if they are considered "high-risk." High-risk individuals are defined as men aged 55 or older, those who carry certain breast cancer genes like BRCA1 or BRCA2, men with a family history of prostate cancer (including a first-degree relative diagnosed with or dying from prostate cancer, or who developed a related cancer or genetic mutation), and male military veterans exposed to agent orange.
