This bill appropriates $1,000,000 from the state's general fund for the fiscal year 2026-2027 to the University of Arizona to conduct a health study. This study will examine the levels of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are a group of man-made chemicals found in many products, in the blood of individuals across Arizona. The study will focus on people who get their drinking water from private groundwater wells or public water systems that have been contaminated with PFAS above the limits set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the federal agency responsible for environmental protection.
