This bill amends existing Arizona law regarding the closure of shooting ranges. Specifically, it adds a requirement that the legislature must adopt a joint resolution approving the closure of a state-owned shooting range located within or adjacent to a city with a population over one million, in addition to the existing requirements of a written recommendation from the director of the game and fish department, a detailed report from the commission, unanimous commission approval after public hearings in three populous counties, review by the joint committee on capital review, and the governor's approval via executive order. The bill also clarifies the definition of a "shooting range" to include permanently located and improved outdoor areas for various shooting sports, while excluding areas solely for archery or air guns, enclosed indoor facilities, national guard facilities in large cities, and facilities not owned by the state before January 1, 2002.
