This bill creates a new section of law, 407.3300, that prohibits businesses from falsely or misleadingly marketing products as "wood" if their decorative surface is not made of solid wood or wood veneer originating from a tree, and also prohibits advertising or selling products using wood-related terms or specific wood species names if the decorative surface is not actually that species of wood. However, products already within the state by August 28, 2026, can still be sold if clearly labeled "This product is not made from wood," but no new products violating these rules can enter the state after that date. The department of agriculture is authorized to create rules for administering this section, which will be subject to standard administrative procedures and legislative review.
