This bill amends The Plumbing License Law of 1955 by adding new exceptions to when certain provisions of the law do not apply, meaning individuals performing these specific tasks may not need a plumbing license. The changes clarify that the law does not apply to minor repairs like fixing faucets, plumbing work on farm buildings outside of cities unless connected to public systems, maintenance for state institutions and school districts, or the installation and repair of automatic sprinkler systems and related piping. It also exempts work on pipe systems for heating, cooling, air conditioning, refrigeration, or boilers and other pressure vessels, provided these systems are connected to a backflow preventer (a device preventing water from flowing backward) and are within governmental agencies that have their own local plumbing regulations. Additionally, the bill exempts individuals performing plumbing work on their own homes, plumbing work on private property for water, sewer, or storm drainage services extending from a public right-of-way to within five feet of a building, and work on six-inch drains. This act will become effective on November 1, 2026.
