This bill requires the Oklahoma Department of Human Services to use the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system, a federal program, to confirm the legal immigration status of applicants for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the food stamp program. If an applicant's legal status cannot be verified through SAVE, the Department of Human Services must notify the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office, which will then review the case and potentially report it to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement if the applicant's presence in the United States is unverifiable. Additionally, the Department of Human Services will be required to post notices on its website and application portals informing applicants that their immigration status will be reviewed and that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement may be notified if it remains unverified. This bill also updates the name of the "food stamp program" to the "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)" and makes other minor technical changes.
