This bill, amending Arizona Revised Statutes, adds a new section to public education law that allows students to fulfill a high school graduation requirement for world language instruction by demonstrating proficiency in a Native American language, provided that the state board of education or a school district or charter school already mandates world language instruction for graduation. Importantly, this new provision does not obligate any school district or charter school to actually offer Native American language courses, but it does grant the state board of education the authority to create standards for assessing proficiency in these languages.
