AI Summary

This bill expands existing West Virginia law to include federal correctional facilities within the state, making it a felony to attempt to smuggle contraband, such as weapons, drugs, or telecommunications devices, into these institutions. A telecommunications device is broadly defined to include any equipment capable of transmitting or receiving various forms of communication, including cell phones, satellite phones, and computers. The bill also increases the penalties for various offenses related to aiding escapes, delivering prohibited items, and inmates possessing contraband, with some penalties now carrying longer prison sentences and higher fines.
