This bill authorizes the State of Mississippi to issue up to $1.7 million in general obligation bonds, which are essentially loans backed by the state's full faith and credit, to help the City of Olive Branch fund repairs, renovations, expansions, and upgrades to the historic Maples Methodist Church building. The purpose of these improvements is to enable the city to use the building as a community events center and a theater. The State Bond Commission, referred to as the "Commission," will manage the issuance and sale of these bonds, with the proceeds going into a special fund designated for the project. Any remaining funds after the project is completed will be used to pay off the bonds. The bonds will mature within 25 years and will be exempt from state taxes. This act will take effect on July 1, 2026, and no bonds can be issued under this authority after July 1, 2030.
