This bill amends Mississippi Code Section 29-5-215 to allow a portion of the money in the Capitol Complex Improvement District Project Fund to be used to pay the Office of Capitol Police, which is part of the Department of Public Safety, for providing police coverage during major events held within the Capitol Complex Improvement District. This fund, established to support improvements in the Capitol Complex Improvement District, previously allowed for a portion of its money to reimburse the Department of Finance and Administration for administrative costs and to compensate the City of Jackson for general police and fire protection. The bill specifically adds the compensation for the Office of Capitol Police to the list of permissible uses for up to ten percent of the fund's deposited money, at the discretion of the Executive Director of the Department of Finance and Administration.
