The funds will be used to update educational materials on preventing this type of abuse, ensuring they align with standards set by the department of health and the University of New Mexico's pediatrics department. Additionally, the money will support the full implementation of training and education programs in hospitals and birthing centers across the state, and establish a system for statewide reporting of abusive head trauma incidents, with any remaining funds reverting to the general fund at the end of the fiscal year.
