This bill directs the joint legislative audit and review committee to examine how Washington state agencies currently prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement in programs that distribute public funds, deliver services, and involve partnerships. The committee will assess existing internal controls and oversight processes, compare Washington's practices to those in other states to identify effective strategies, and propose ways to improve statewide accountability and the stewardship of public money. The findings and recommendations from this review, which is intended to strengthen public trust and ensure efficient use of resources, will be reported to the legislature by September 1, 2027, and this directive will expire on October 1, 2027.
