This bill establishes a new offense called criminal property damage of a critical infrastructure facility, making it a class C felony, which is a serious crime with significant penalties. It expands the definition of "critical infrastructure" to explicitly include broadband, wireless, and cable television networks, in addition to existing categories like gas and oil systems, water supply, telecommunications, electrical power, finance, emergency services, transportation, and government operations. This means that intentionally or knowingly damaging these newly included communication networks without permission will now be subject to the same legal consequences as damaging other vital infrastructure. The bill also specifies that it will take effect on July 1, 3000.
