This group will assess the balance between the number of these available attorneys and the volume of child custody cases across Virginia, including those where a guardian ad litem is legally required or optionally appointed by the court. The work group is tasked with reporting its findings and suggesting any necessary additional support for appointing or having guardians ad litem represent children in these cases, identifying any specific areas or regions that might need more assistance, to the Chairs of the House and Senate Committees for Courts of Justice by November 30, 2026.
