This bill allows members of the West Virginia State Police Retirement System to use their accumulated annual leave or sick leave days to gain additional credited service towards their retirement. For those who became members before July 1, 2015, two workdays of credited service will be granted for each one day of accrued leave, with specific rules for calculating full months of service. For individuals who joined the retirement system on or after July 1, 2015, one day of credited service will be granted for each one day of accrued leave, also with specific rules for calculating full months of service. An "accrued leave day" is defined as the equivalent of eight hours of leave. This change aims to provide a new option for members to enhance their retirement benefits.
