This bill amends the law governing the Auctioneers Board by changing the qualifications for its citizen members. Previously, the Board consisted of three licensed auctioneers and two citizen members, but this bill specifies that the two citizen members must not have any training or experience as an auctioneer, nor be related to an auctioneer (spouse, parent, child, or sibling), nor have any financial stake in auctioneering beyond being a consumer. Furthermore, these citizen members cannot currently be licensed in, employed by, or financially connected to professions offering similar services to auctioneers, such as real estate brokers or salespersons, as defined by Virginia law.
