This bill amends Mississippi law to exempt constables, who are law enforcement officers elected to serve civil process and perform other duties within their county, from the licensing requirements to carry stun guns, concealed pistols, or revolvers. Currently, individuals must obtain a license from the Department of Public Safety after meeting various criteria, including age, residency, and background checks, to legally carry such weapons concealed. This amendment, effective July 1, 2026, adds constables to the existing list of law enforcement officials, such as sheriffs and police chiefs, who are already exempt from these licensing requirements.
