This bill reconstitutes the Tax Sales Study Committee, which was established to examine issues related to land titles affected by unpaid taxes and problems within the current tax sale process, and to propose solutions. The committee's membership is increased from six to seven members, with the Senate and House of Representatives each now appointing three members instead of two, while the chancery clerk, tax assessor, and Secretary of State's roles remain the same. Importantly, any appointments and procedural decisions made by the committee before its original dissolution date will remain valid for the newly reconstituted committee, and any future vacancies will be filled according to the original appointment procedures. The committee's dissolution date is extended from January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2027.
