AI Summary
This bill directs the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) to conduct a thorough review of the current process for obtaining a real estate salesperson license in Virginia. This review will examine all requirements for applying for, taking the exam for, and receiving a license, including internal procedures that affect how applications are received, eligibility is determined, exams are scheduled, and the overall time from application to license issuance. The DPOR will collect and analyze data on how long it takes to get a license, looking at average processing times, differences based on application type, reasons for problems or delays, and any trends affecting efficiency. The goal is to find administrative, procedural, or regulatory inefficiencies that cause delays and to suggest improvements to make the process faster, more predictable, and clearer, while still protecting consumers. To help with this, the DPOR will create and meet with a stakeholder advisory group, which will include people involved in the real estate industry, to review current processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend improvements. Based on this review and input, the DPOR will propose changes to laws, regulations, or administrative procedures to make the real estate salesperson licensing process more timely and effective, and will implement any changes that can be done quickly. Finally, by January 1, 2027, the DPOR must submit a report of its findings, recommendations, and any actions taken to the leaders of the House and Senate committees responsible for general laws.
