This bill requires the department, which refers to the state department responsible for child welfare, to make audio or video recordings of all interviews with children that are part of investigations into claims of abuse, dependency, or neglect. These recordings are intended to create a record of the interviews, though there are exceptions for technical failures or unforeseen circumstances that prevent recording, and the failure to record does not automatically make any statements or evidence from the interview inadmissible in court. The recordings themselves are considered confidential.
