This bill requires any person, firm, association, or corporation in New York State that sells or leases bicycles with electric assist (e-bikes) or electric scooters to equip them with specific lights before sale or lease. For e-bikes, this means a white front light visible from 500 feet and a red or amber rear light visible from 300 feet, with at least one light visible from 200 feet on each side. Similarly, electric scooters must have a white front light visible from 500 feet and a red rear light visible from 300 feet, with at least one light visible from 200 feet on each side.
