Bill Summary
Workforce Transition Act of 1995; eligibility for transitional severance benefit; officers and employees of the Fort Monroe Authority. Provides that employees of the Fort Monroe Authority are eligible for transitional severance benefits conferred by the Workforce Transition Act of 1995 if (i) reemployment with the Commonwealth is not possible because there is no available position for which the employee is qualified or the position offered to the employee requires relocation or a reduction in salary and (ii) involuntary separation was due to causes other than job performance or misconduct.
AI Summary
This bill amends the Workforce Transition Act of 1995 to make employees of the Fort Monroe Authority eligible for transitional severance benefits, which are payments provided to employees who lose their jobs under specific circumstances. To qualify, these employees must meet two conditions: first, they must be unable to find reemployment with the Commonwealth because no suitable positions are available, or the offered positions require relocation or a pay cut; and second, their separation from employment must not be due to poor job performance or misconduct. The bill clarifies eligibility criteria for these benefits, which are intended to help individuals transition after involuntary separation from state employment.
