This bill, known as the Mississippi School Accountability Dashboard Act, establishes a system for public schools to provide parents and the public with critical student performance data. Beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year, school districts will be required to publish an initial School Accountability Dashboard by September 30, 2026, and subsequent updates within three weeks of receiving their annual accountability rating. The dashboard will be presented as an easily accessible, user-friendly single-page graphic on the main page of each school district's website and on a centralized database managed by the State Department of Education. The State Department of Education will provide a standardized dashboard template and guidance by August 1, 2026, and will have until the 2027-2028 school year to identify and include any relevant data not currently collected. The dashboard will align with Mississippi's performance-based accreditation system and will include metrics such as school accountability letter grades, graduation rates, proficiency and growth in reading and math, truancy and dropout rates, student-to-teacher ratios, college and career readiness indicators, and teacher and staffing information, as well as detailed school fiscal accounting and expenditure reports. The bill also amends existing laws to integrate the dashboard requirements into the state's performance-based accreditation system and clarifies that the dashboard will serve as a public reporting tool without imposing additional punitive measures based solely on its data, with the State Department of Education overseeing data accuracy and providing technical assistance.
