This bill, known as the "Grace Anne Sparks Coercive Suicide Prevention Law of 2026," creates a new criminal offense in Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39, Chapter 13, Part 2, specifically addressing coercive suicide. Under this new law, a person commits the offense of coercive suicide if they intentionally advise or encourage another person to commit or attempt suicide, with the specific intent to incite, persuade, or aid that person in doing so within an imminent timeframe, and they know the other person has expressed an intent to commit suicide.
