This bill appropriates three million dollars ($3,000,000) from the state's general fund to the board of regents of the University of New Mexico for fiscal years 2027 through 2029, specifically for its graduate medical education program. The purpose of this funding is to help hospitals across New Mexico establish and increase the number of physician residency positions in key areas like family practice, internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics, with a particular focus on medically underserved rural communities.
