This bill amends Chapter 441 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri (RSMo) by adding a new section, 441.927, which defines a "veteran" as a resident of Missouri who has been honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces after serving at least six consecutive months during peacetime or wartime, or who was released early due to a service-connected disability or a reduction in force, or any reserve or National Guard member with at least six years of satisfactory service or who was called to active duty and participated in a campaign or expedition for which a badge or medal was authorized. The bill then prohibits landlords from evicting a tenant who meets this definition of a veteran from their rented property unless the property is being used for illegal conduct as described in section 441.020 of the RSMo, which generally pertains to unlawful activities on leased premises.
