This bill modifies existing law regarding special license plates featuring professional sports team emblems, specifically impacting those with the Kansas City Chiefs logo. Beginning August 28, 2026, any agreements allowing the Kansas City Chiefs' official emblem on license plates will terminate, and no new plates with this emblem will be issued in the state. However, license plates already issued before this date will remain valid until they expire or are surrendered by the owner, though the Kansas City Chiefs will no longer collect emblem-use fees after August 28, 2026. The bill also removes a provision that previously directed all emblem-use fees collected by the Kansas City Chiefs, after administrative costs, to the Chiefs' Children's Fund, and instead, like other professional sports teams, these fees will generally be forwarded to either the Jackson County Sports Authority or the St. Louis Regional Convention and Visitors Commission for marketing and promotion purposes.
