This bill requires each local public school district in Mississippi to implement a policy by July 1, 2027, that prohibits students from using cell phones and personal electronic devices, defined as any device capable of connecting to the internet or cellular networks like smartwatches, laptops, and tablets, during instructional time, referred to as "bell to bell" from the start to the end of the school day, though exceptions may be made for emergencies or for students using devices to monitor health issues, and school districts must submit their policies to the Department of Education by October 1, 2027, and report any changes annually thereafter.
