This bill proposes to amend Mississippi Code Section 37-19-7 to provide a salary supplement of $6,000.00 per school year for certified strength and conditioning coaches who meet specific requirements, including being employed by a local school board or the State Board of Education to coach K-12 students and holding a Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), provided they are not in an administrative role. To receive the full supplement, documentation of this certification must be submitted to the school district by October 15th of the school year; however, if documentation is provided between October 16th and February 15th, the coach will be eligible for half of the supplement for that school year. This provision is being added to an existing section that already outlines salary supplements for other certified professionals like Master Teachers, school nurses, school counselors, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and athletic trainers.
