This bill mandates that every local public school district in Mississippi must provide elementary school students with at least twenty minutes of physical activity each full school day, which can include unstructured outdoor play unless weather makes it impractical, in which case indoor spaces should be used if possible. This physical activity does not count time spent using electronic devices, in formal physical education classes, or walking between classes, and students cannot be denied this activity as punishment unless they pose an immediate threat to themselves or others. This law is set to become effective on July 1, 2026.
