This bill establishes a mandatory electronic game check program for white-tailed deer in Mississippi, requiring the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to develop a simple and user-friendly system, potentially including a mobile app or online reporting, to collect harvest data. This data will help inform wildlife conservation policies. The department must provide an annual report on the program to legislative committees. Violating the program's laws or regulations will be considered a Class III violation, subject to fines outlined in Section 49-7-101 and additional assessments. Each deer taken or possessed illegally will be a separate offense. First-time offenders will face assessments between $100 and $500, while repeat offenders will be assessed between $500 and $1,000. These collected assessments will be deposited with the State Treasurer and credited to the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for use upon legislative appropriation. The act will become effective on July 1, 2026.
