This bill, titled "AN ACT to revise and codify the general and public statutes of the State of Tennessee, to the extent incorporated herein, as a part of Tennessee Code Annotated; to provide in case of any conflict between Acts of the regular or any extraordinary 2026 Session of the General Assembly and this Act, the former shall be controlling, regardless of the respective dates of passage or approval; and to repeal all acts or parts of acts codified in this Act," essentially updates and organizes the existing laws of Tennessee into the Tennessee Code Annotated, which is a compilation of the state's statutes. The bill clarifies that if there's any contradiction between this new compilation and other laws passed during the 2026 legislative sessions, those other laws will take precedence, regardless of when they were passed. It also repeals any previous laws that are now included in this updated code. The purpose of this process, known as codification, is to make the state's laws more accessible and consistent.
