Insurers have specific timelines to initiate information exchange and must notify claimants if their payments are being withheld. While insurers are protected from liability for good-faith actions taken under this law, they can face penalties of up to $5,000 for non-compliance or providing false information, and may be liable for the full amount of child support that should have been withheld. Insurers must be fully compliant with these new requirements by July 1, 2027.
